Let me first say Well Done classmates! We are all definitely improving our presentations. Not only the actual PowerPoint setup, but also how we deliver our presentations as well. Kudos to you! I really enjoyed all the presentations and the different ways that my classmates utilized PPT. There were games, videos, songs, all different modes of technology. I think that is something I can take away from our projects. PowerPoint is a versatile tool that can be used in a variety of ways. It is not just the simple words on slide, talk about it, etc...
I am still noticing that on some slides there are too many words. I think that is perhaps the most difficult thing to change. You want to have everything up on the board that is important, but its important to minimize words and talk about the "salient" points. The visual that is PowerPoint is really important; but if you want to emphasize something, tell your classroom "now, this is going to be on the test," or, "this is really important." I promise they will listen!
For my presentation personally, I could have used more videos. I liked my presentation visually (IE- pictures), but I only had one video and decided not to show it. I think using all that PowerPoint has to offer will make my lectures/lesson plan more interesting and keep students engaged. I think it would have been beneficial to try and get the class a bit more involved with questions or the like.
I do enjoy using PowerPoint. I think for us visual learners out there, PPT is a necessity during lecture. It is a way for students to understand the important concepts of the lesson and it can be used for humor and discussion too. I will definitely be using PowerPoint in my lessons, whether I teach Spanish or Social Studies.
